Nearly three decades after playing his final game for the University of Kansas, David George Robisch still ranks as one of the Top 10 scorers of all-time for the tradition-rich Jayhawk basketball program. Despite playing during a time when freshmen were not eligible, Robisch finished his career (1968-71) as the second-leading scorer behind Clyde Lovellette and was eighth on the all-time list (1,754 points) when he was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. A smooth left-handed shooter, the 6-foot-10 Robisch was a 1971 first-team All-American, three-time All-Big 8 selection, two-time player of the year and a member of KU’s 1971 Final Four team. He averaged a Big 8-leading 26.5 points a game during the 1969-70 season, which ranks as the fourth-highest scoring average in school history behind Wilt ChemberlainChamberlain and Lovellette. Robisch was drafted by the Denver Rockets of the American Basketball Association and played seven seasons in the ABA with the Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Baltimore Claws and San Diego Conquisadors. He also played seven seasons in the National Basketball Association with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and Kansas City Kings. In 13 pro seasons, Robisch scored 10,581 points and grabbed 6,173 rebounds. Robisch has been inducted into the Illinois High School Hall of Fame, the Springfield (Ill.) Sports Hall of Fame, the Kansas University Sports Hall of Fame and had his KU jersey retired in 2005. Born December 22, 1949 – Cincinnati, Ohio. Graduated Springfield (Ill.)
