A two-time first-team All-American at Pittsburg State University, John Robert Peterson was one of the best linemen ever at the school. Peterson came to Pittsburg State from Clearwater High School in 1964 and was a three-time All-Central States Intercollegiate Conference selection on the defensive line. He was named honorable mention All-American in 1965 and first-team All-American as a junior in 1966 and a senior in 1967. Peterson, who would later become a dentist, was inducted into the Pittsburg State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991 and named to the school’s 100th anniversary football team in 2003. Born 1946.
