A two-time consensus first-team basketball All-American at Kansas State University, Bob Boozer graduated as the school’s all-time scoring leader, was the first player from K-State to play for the United States Olympic basketball team, and was the first player selected in the 1959 National Basketball Association draft. During his three years at Kansas State, the Wildcats won 62 of 77 games, two conference titles, were the consensus Number-one ranked team in the country, and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament. Boozer finished his KSU career with 1,685 points, 21.6 points per game average – both KSU records at the time. A three-time first team all-conference selection (1957, 1958, 1959), the 6-foot-8-inch, 220-pounder posted season scoring averages of 19.6, 20.1, and 25.6 and earned consensus all-American honors in both his junior and senior seasons. Boozer led the 1958-59 Kansas State team to a number-one national ranking with a 25-2 record including 14-0 in the Big-8 conference. He was a key member of the legendary 1960 Olympic gold medal basketball team which later became the first team to be inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame. The first player chosen in the 1959 NBA draft (Cincinnati Royals) Boozer spent 11 seasons with six different NBA teams, including the 1971 world Champion Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 12,964 points for a career average of 14.8. During both the 1968 and 1969 seasons, Boozer ranked among the NBA scoring leaders with averages of 21.5 and 21.7 points.
