No one scored more points in Kansas high school basketball history – male or female – than Jackie Marie Stiles, the pride of the Claflin Wildcats. And no women’s player has scored more points at the NCAA level than Stiles, who starred at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State) and led the Lady Bears in the 2001 Final Four. Known for her tireless work ethic and long hours in the gym, Stiles set scoring records in high school that may never be approached, let alone broken. From 1994-97, she scored an incredible 3,603 points in her four-year career – over 400 more than the No. 2 player on the all-time list – and averaged 35.7 points per game for her career. Stiles scored 1,252 points during her senior season in 1996-97 and averaged 46.4 points per game. She scored an all-time record 71 points in one game as a senior and scored 54 or more points six other times. Stiles was named first-team all-state four times and the KSHOF Player of the Year three times. Stiles attended Southwest Missouri State where she became the first player in NCAA history to score more than 1,000 points in one season (1,062 in 2000-01). She finished her college career with an all-time best 3,393 points and was honored with the 2001 Wade Trophy, signifying the country’s best women’s basketball player. Stiles was selected fourth overall by the Portland Fire in the 2001 WNBA Draft and was voted the WNBA Rookie of the Year. But since that high point, Stiles has suffered numerous injuries, including 13 surgeries, which greatly hampered her WNBA career. Born December 21, 1978 – Kansas City, Kansas.
