One of the most decorated women’s track and field athletes in Kansas history, Kathy Devine of Emporia State University dominated throwing events at the collegiate level during the 1970s. Devine competed in the 1976 and 1980 United States Olympic Trials and at various times, held NAIA national records in the shot put, discus and javelin. She held the national shot put record four different times. Devine was a three-time NAIA track and field All-American at Emporia State and also a four-time All-Central States Intercollegiate Conference selection in volleyball. She went on to coach track and field at Pflugerville (TX) High School. Born April, 11, 1957. Graduated Mission Bay H.S. (San Diego, Calif.) - 1975; Emporia State University - 1979.
